Online shopping mall

Online shopping is the process consumers go through to purchase products or services over the Internet. An online shop, e-shop, e-store, internet shop, webshop or online store evokes the physical analogy of buying products or services at a bricks-and-mortar retailer or in a shopping mall. It is an electronic commerce application used for business-to-business electronic commerce (B2B) or business-to-consumer electronic commerce (B2C).
Online shopping is popular mainly because of its speed and ease of use. Some issues of concern can include fluctuating exchange rates for foreign currencies, local and international laws and delivery methods

Know The Risks Of Not Knowing What Is Dry Mouth
by Rai Shimiz

Many people get it, but in reality, what is dry mouth? Dry mouth is an issue having many likely causes. Two possibilities are dehydration and lifestyle. Either one can cause signs of dry mouth and should be considered accordingly.

Dry mouth is a problem represented by certain symptoms. The name dry mouth reduces the condition to make it simple to reference however it's more than just getting a dry mouth. The indicators that characterize what is dry mouth follow along with various conditions that can be the cause of it.

Dry mouth is a dry feeling within your mouth and throat yet this dry feeling might also be joined by a sticky feeling. Anybody having what is dry mouth might be thirsty most of the time. Dry mouth may develop with sores or skin being cracked open within your mouth, especially along the corners. The skin of the lips might be cracked too. There can be a burning or tingling feeling inside the mouth and your tongue might look red, raw, and burning as well. More supreme cases of dry mouth could make it more problematic for anyone suffering from what is dry mouth to speak, taste, chew, or swallow. The person might be hoarse and get a sore throat and would develop dental malodor.

Dehydration and dry mouth symptoms complement each other. It's a distinguishable cause and effect which, when the body lacks water then your mouth (being a part of your body) would be dry too. And dehydration can be because of many complications and circumstances. Vomiting, diarrhea, fever, excessive sweating, and inadequate fluid intake can be some of the potential causes of dehydration. The way to treat these causes of dehydration as well as the growth of what is dry mouth can be to just consume more water. When an ailment is involved then that will have to be taken care of too.

Lifestyle factors might also produce dry mouth symptoms. Smoking or chewing tobacco, in essence, could provide an influence on the amount of saliva production that can cause what is dry mouth, or might make already existing symptoms worse. Smoking essentially builds up mouth breathing which could dry out your mouth. Considerably, mouth breathing in general might cause dry mouth.

Curing what is dry mouth begins with diagnosing the source and doing everything you can to prevent that. It could denote stopping smoking or chewing tobacco or it could mean consuming more water. In any case, the health of the mouth should be the number of priority. Constant visits to your dentist are recommended. This, of course, would be accompanying daily brushing and flossing. You might also wish to search for an all-natural mouthwash to make sure that you ultimately take care of your mouth. Certain organic ingredients would help by preventing bacteria and would be a perfect addition to your dental health ritual.

Plus Size? Take Those Worries Away and Look Super on Your Wedding Day With Plus Size Wedding Dresses
If you are plus size and are thinking that wedding dresses are only for those with a Size Zero runway figure, then think again. Today all styles are available for the fuller figure; if you have curves, why not flaunt them! There's a growing market out there reacting to the skinny model so-called norm. So don't worry - you can look stunning on your wedding day.

Styles If you go for an A-line shaped wedding dress this will probably be the most flattering as it takes the emphasis away from the hips and gives you are more balanced look and hide any imperfections.

You probably want to steer away from the ball gown skirt style as this can exaggerate the curves you may want to hide.

V necklines are very flattering to the woman with a larger bust.

Strapless? Be careful we don't want any accidents! Make sure you are well held in but you may find that having your shoulders covered with a plunge neckline looks better than exposing shoulders which may detract from your curves. Long length of wedding dress can even out the curves, add height and can be more flattering than short dresses or skirts that draw attention to that central area. Arms can be a problem for the plus size woman. So look at sleeves or at least quarter-length.

Don't kid yourself Look. You're a beautiful plus size figure, so don't try to squeeze yourself into an outfit you know doesn't fit. Make sure you have room to move and breathe! You may be lucky enough to get something off the peg, but fitted is better. This is your big day. Make sure you are happy and be yourself. Wear Good Undergarments that holds it all together, literally and figuratively, for plus size wedding dresses is recommended to wear good undergarments.

Materials: These days plus sizes come in every conceivable style and material but you have to know that some styles may not suit you. Usually the less fussy the dress, the better for the plus size woman. You should look at chiffon, satin, maybe lace for sleeves and bodice.

We are all different shapes and sizes. Try to understand what is best for you; what you want to emphasize and what you want to minimize. Don't think because you are plus size that you have to cover yourself in yards of tulle.

Buying a Tuxedo Suit - Tips For Men

Buying a Tuxedo Suit - Tips For Men
By Patrick Aidan

Buying suiting attire is a very difficult task as there are a number of styles, cuts, colors that are available for the common man to choose from. You can either buy a tuxedo suit or you can rent one for a reasonable price at your nearest local suiting center. However now days the suits that men wear now days are ill fitting and do not guarantee a second look.

Here are a few points to consider while you buy a Tuxedo.

o Fabric

While looking out for buy a Tuxedo suiting fabric you need to look out for those materials that are guaranteed to spring back into their normal shape after you wring them. There are many suiting material that are tagged with the super 100 label which just means that the fabric yarn has just been twisted about 100 times rather than the normal 60-80.

o Pant fitting and length of sleeves

To check the pant fitting you need to be able to slip in two fingers behind the waist while you are trying on the pant. If you can slip in your fingers without any problem then you do not have to worry about the fitting again. If you are thinner do away with pleated pants however if you are on the chubby side you can do with the pleated pants. The length of the jacket sleeves needs to be long enough so as to cover the tip of your thumb when your hands are by your side. If this is not the case you will end like a wannabe who borrowed his brother's suit.

o Jacket and suit fit

The jacket waist should be cut in such a way that it enhances your physique and doesn't bring out the fat content in and around your waist. Two button suits as well as three button suits enhance the shape of your body if you are lucky in purchasing the right kind of suiting material. The fit of the suit is characterized by the flexibility it allows you to stretch and move around your arms; basically you need to feel comfortable whatever you do when you buy tuxedo accessories.

Do You Need a Survival Kit?

Do You Need a Survival Kit?
by CShipe

Since 9/11 and the threat of countries like Iran arming themselves with nuclear weapons, many people are wondering if they should purchase or put together a survival kit. Almost all the experts suggest being prepared by having supplies in case of disaster or emergency strikes. Reasonably priced survival kits are available to purchase and can be a great timesaver if you tend to procrastinate or don't have time to assemble your own kit. Here are some of the items to look for in a good survival kit.

Water is not included in the typical survival kit, so make sure you stock up on bottled water. The government advises one gallon of water per person for each day. A supply for at least three days is recommended. Water sanitizing tablets may also be included in some survival kits and can be helpful for longer periods without clean water. Food may or may not be included in a survival kit, but it is of course necessary. Non-perishables such as power bars, military MREs (meals ready to eat), canned goods, trail mix, dried fruit, dehydrated foods from camping supply stores, et cetera are a good choice for emergency food supplies.

The government also counsels a good supply of sleeping bags or blankets for each individual's warmth and comfort. Many survival kits contain first aid supplies, which is invaluable to have in emergency situations. Long range walkie talkies in case family members must separate and a radio with extra batteries for each can also be a useful tool depending on your location. "Forever flashlights" which do not need batteries are a perfect choice for survival kits. A whistle to signal for help if you are trapped, local maps, and a compass are all items to have in your disaster kit. Shelter can be a concern depending on your location, so look for a survival kit that includes a tent to alleviate that worry. Garbage bags and baby wipes can serve a multitude of needs including personal sanitation if the need arises, so a good supply of each is worthwhile.

Keeping your survival kit updated and maintained is a vital part of being prepared for an emergency. Batteries and food both have a long yet still limited shelf life. It can be a temptation to use items from your survival kit for convenience sake, but keeping your kit together and handy is a better option. Do you have a family plan for what to do in different emergency scenarios? No one likes to think about disaster striking their family, but having a plan in place and supplies prepared can ease your mind and allow your family to be prepared in almost any situation.
by Avery Parker
A sharp microwave oven has really become one of the most important appliances in the kitchen today because it has made its way in its own place in the modern kitchen. They have been the ones responsible for the majority of the food that you need to serve. These devices have been known to generate warm energy to surely cook the food while at the same time retaining the natural moisture and juiciness.

During the earlier days these microwave ovens are still very costly, but now that a lot of brands are also developing different microwave ovens, the prices experienced a significant drop. Companies like Sharp made sure that majority of the people will still be able to afford these kitchen appliances while at the same time making sure that people still get the most efficient functions of these microwave ovens.
Some of the advantages that these microwave ovens bring are that they can be used to brown, roast or produce crispy food in an instant. They can also be used to heat leftovers and to bake different dishes. It is also possible to use these ovens to cool and heat the items whenever you need and desire to. One of these precautions is to avoid using materials such as foil and/or metal when cooking food in them. This is because it can cause a fire or an explosion since it reflects the heat the microwave is producing. You also have to have a closer look on the amount of time that the food stays inside the microwave to prevent it from being overcooked. When this happens, there is a bigger chance that the food will just go to waste. Lastly, you always have to make sure that the walls of the oven do not accumulate food particles over time because these particles can affect the efficiency that these microwave ovens bring.

Enjoy the Service of a One Way Moving Truck

Enjoy the Service of a One Way Moving Truck

Relocation is somehow hard to prepare especially if you do not have enough time and you need to move immediately. Several things need to be observed before you do the relocation. One of the things you should focus is to find the right moving truck rental.

Many companies offer truck rental where some propose a variety of trip packages to choose from. If you need a truck that will accommodate all your household goods, it is a better idea to avail the service of a one way moving truck rental.

This type of truck rental works by picking up all your stuff in your home then drops it to your new location. The service of this moving truck is different to other because it does not return to the same facility where it came from.

One way moving is costlier during weekends and peak season. It is more expensive than round trip ones. It is not advisable to rent a one way moving truck during the end of the month as well as during summer season. If you want to have a discount, your relocation should fall on weekdays so that you can avail discounted moving.

Budget is the most significant thing for site relocation. Your budget should fit to the vehicle you want to rent. Confirm to the company if they can provide you the service that is suitable to your budget.

Several factors influence the price of a one way moving truck such as the place where the customer will pick up the vehicle, the availability of the truck, and the location where the truck will drop off all the stuff.

The price may vary from time to time, but other truck rental companies offer a fixed rate deal. It is better to make a deal to those companies that provide this sort of service.

The key to have a successful and enjoyable home relocation is through conducting a wise decision. Bear in mind that being wise does not only means that your goal is just to save money. It also means that you get the best service at a reasonable cost.

Purpose - How it Makes Better Fathers

Purpose - How it Makes Better Fathers
By Pie Nimb

It is fashionable nowadays for fathers to be softies. They give in to the demands of their children. Children throw tantrums every time their father does not do what they want. Clearly fathers today have lost authority in the eyes of their children.

Why is this happening and what has it got to do with purpose? This article goes through some points on how purpose affects your role as a father.

Purpose in the context of this article refers to the husband's or father's self-purpose in life. His individual purpose rather than his purpose for the family is the focus here.

Television has taught a lot of bad stuff at children. It is very common nowadays to see movies which put fathers in a bad light if they miss their child's game or performance at school.

Frequently, it is portrayed that the father should be enslaved by this false sense of responsibility to be there for their children every single minute the children want. This has created spoiled emotionally weak children and fathers who do not have authority over them.

Children learn from what they feel from their fathers. If their fathers drop everything in life just to attend to their most trivial desires then they see a weak father who has no authority.

If a father has a purpose in life and works on that purpose every single day the child will a father who has priorities greater than themselves. This definitely is not a call to begin neglecting your children. But instead it is a father's responsibility to align his daily goals towards his purpose in life.

A father with a purpose will make the child feel that there is no ambiguity in priorities and will therefore begin to respect them. It is important to note that if a man's priority in life is his purpose, he will place himself at a position of respect by his children and admiration by his wife.

If you have positioned yourself in the family this way there will be no attempts to challenge your authority. Children will no longer see a father who is indecisive and easily manipulated. They stop trying to cry foul over what is fair and not and instead listen to what you have to say.

To realize that you have a greater purpose in life than your kids will make you spend less lazy time with them. It might be ironic, but if you set aside quality time with your children and make them feel that your time away from your purpose in life is limited they will begin to appreciate every minute you spend with them and love you even more.

Perhaps the best gift you can give your children is to teach them at an early age that focusing on their purposes in life will lead them above mediocrity. Super star athletes were not created without the guidance of parents who made their children feel that their purpose in life were beyond everything else.

Try it and see how it affects your family. Focus on your individual goals and purpose gain the respect and admiration of your children.

Pie Nimb writes about a multitude of things including pearl gifts.
Pearl Bracelets as Fashion Jewelry Accessories

Pearl Bracelets as Fashion Jewelry Accessories
by Larry Williams

Freshwater pearls today are affordable and are therefore quite popular in fashion or costume jewelry designs. Through the ages, pearls have long been associated with class, elegance and a sense of innocence. Cultured pearl bracelets in particular can be worn to class up any outfit - be it an evening dress for a formal occasion, or a pair of jeans and blouse for a casual night out. Pearl bracelets grace the hands and draw attention to a delicate wrist. With the development of techniques to create cultured pearls, this elegance and class comes with a very affordable price tag.

There are numerous types and colors of cultured pearls available in the market today. This allows designers to pick from a dazzling array of choices and allows them to innovate and let their imagination run free when it comes to creating their pieces of jewelry. This in turn means that you - the fashion jewelry aficionado, is sure to find a bracelet that suits your style and taste. For those with a simple and understated sense of style, you can choose a single strand of pearls. For a bolder look, consider a multi-strand bracelet. These bracelets can have anywhere from 3 to 6 strands of pearls. Jewelry designs today even include pearls that are dyed in a wide range of colors. Make no mistake - natural pastel shades of white, off-white, pink and beige continue to be the most popular colors for freshwater pearl bracelets. But, it your sense of style and fashion dictates otherwise, you no longer have to confine yourself to these few natural colors. Today, golden, brown, green, blue and violet are all readily available.

Since freshwater pearls have had such a strong influence on the world of fashion jewelry, it is appropriate to briefly discuss where pearls - and more importantly, cultured pearls come from. Natural pearls are formed with an irritant such as a particle of sand enters the shell of a mollusk, causing the creature to secrete nacre that coats the irritant. In natural pearls, the irritant enters the shell without the intervention of man. To create cultured pearls, a person inserts an irritant - usually a plastic bead or tissue from a "donor" mollusk into the shell. Thus, the reliability of pearl formation is much greater compared to when the trigger is left to nature alone. Furthermore, each mollusk can be "seeded" to develop up to fifteen pearls. It is this greater efficiency and reliability in production that has caused a reduction in the price of freshwater pearls, and put them within reach of millions of fashion jewelry fans around the world.

The Key To Overcoming Your Obstacles

The Key To Overcoming Your Obstacles
by Kristin Hutchings

Obstacles are a part of life and we all experience them whilst trying to pursue our dreams and goals. Perhaps you are finding it hard to lose weight or find the job you want and feel like giving up, thinking you have to give up your plans.
The obstacles ahead of you can seem insurmountable - the job market is very competitive, the wintry days stop you exercising outside, you can't afford to buy "healthy" food. These circumstances may, at first, to be out of your control and stop you from reaching your goals (after all you have no control over the job market or the seasons) but the biggest obstacle of all is, in fact, YOU.

You see, it is our self-limiting beliefs - our thoughts and beliefs about ourselves and our capabilities - that are the greatest obstacles to achieving our ambitions. These beliefs can seriously block you and stop you from even attempting your goals in the first place. Self-limiting beliefs will eat away at your confidence and self esteem, it can cause you to build distorted views of your previous successes and experiences, down-playing your talents and, therefore, jeopardizing yourself when you face your next goal.
These limitations you falsely believe you possess can become ingrained and follow you through life if you do not try to overcome them. This is the only way you can move forward confidently and with assurance. You do not want your self-limiting beliefs to become like a personal folklore whereby you simply accept them as true without even realising what you are doing and never even questioning their existence.
Although it is true that we do not have control over all circumstances in life, such as job losses, financial crises or natural disasters, we do have control over how we react to the circumstances in our life and how we deal with them. This reaction is based on the way we think. If you tell yourself repeatedly that you can't do something then you will certainly prove yourself right. Our thoughts about ourselves form our beliefs about ourselves, so in order to remove the obstacles in your life you need to start with your thoughts.

Your primary obstacles to success all begin and end with your mind. If you see yourself as one of life's victims you will begin to act as a victim, believing you cannot achieve anything or have any control over your life. It keeps you stuck. As these thoughts and beliefs are your obstacles you need to change the way you think, replacing the negative thoughts and beliefs with positive, self-affirming messages. This takes some practice as limiting beliefs can become such a habit that we are not even consciously aware we are thinking such thoughts. So, firstly you have "listen in" for any negativity and then instantly replace that negativity with positivity. You have full control here which in itself is a very affirming, positive thought. No one else can control your thoughts. Replacing your thoughts can take a little time and persistence but you will soon notice an increase in your confidence. And increased confidence will help to melt all those obstacles away.

Take comfort in the fact that you have full control in overcoming your obstacles and it is something that you can work on and change right now. You do not need to spend another day being ruled by false self-limiting beliefs and allowing them to be obstacles to fulfilling your dreams.
Women, When Shopping For a Self Defense Weapon Which Are You Most Attracted to?
by Karen Abby

Are you attracted to a device that only costs hardly any money, but may mean the difference in your life or death in an attack?
A number of women today are purchasing self defense products to have with them in an unfortunate time of an assault. Make no mistake; you are not imagining that the rate of crime is on the rise. A non-lethal self defense weapon is a smarter and safer choice than carrying a loaded gun.
Not only can a non-lethal self defense product save your life, but it takes away the burden of using a gun and taking another persons life.
In the long run, personal self defense weapons are safe if used correctly. Of course there has been controversy about Tasers and stun guns being used to torture people with repeated exposure to its electrical charge. But we are not talking about those instances.
We are focusing on what they can do for you as targeted woman. Women are more at risk. Statistics show that most violence is done by men, and most have a preference of a female target. Because, most but not all females are the physically weaker sex, and these men that are hoping to do violence, commonly want a weaker adversary. Someone they can control and dominate. With a non-lethal weapon you can reduce the risk that you will be viciously beaten or killed when walking to your car at night, or taking an evening walk in your once safe neighborhood.
Non-lethal weapons are perfect for women and some are designed with the on the go women in mind. There are pepper sprays and stun guns that resemble a tube of lipstick, stun guns that are designed to look like a cell phone and some are even gender color specific too. Most are very discreet and are available to look like simple items that you may carry in your purse or pocket.
When these products are used properly against an attacker, they very well could save a womans life.
It is recommended that after purchasing a self defense weapon that if at all possible, you take a short course on how to use it. Some police stations offer safety courses along with their self-defense courses. If these courses are not available in your area, at bare minimum practice with your device of choice and become familiar with your device and what it can do for you in case of an attack.

How Electronic Messages Can Lead to Legal Issues

How Electronic Messages Can Lead to Legal Issues
by Ryan Frank

Electronic messages, be they emails, text messages, or Facebook comments, can be used as evidence in legal disputes in the same way that letter and other written documents have been used for a long time. But because of the casual nature of electronic mediums, people often forget about this, which can lead to a lot of trouble.

Electronic Messaging at Work
Using company emails and message boards for personal use is one of the things that can get people into a lot of legal trouble. Even though personal use of email at work is not as easily traceable as personal phone use and there is nothing to signal an employee that work is not being done, personal use of company email and electronic messaging channels can make people careless. Formality starts to decrease, and soon jokes and stream-of-consciousness emails start appearing, things you don't want to have in the same place as a company letterhead or business signature. Informality in company electronic messages is what can lead to gossip and co-worker complaints that can turn into actual legal issues.

Employer Liability
In order avoid liability, employers must have in place a solid electronic messaging policy. One thing that many people tend to forget is that, just because you erase an email or a text, it doesn't meant that it is gone forever and can't be dug up later. Once the message is sent, it is open for retrieval and interception by any number of interested or circumstantial parties. Thus, any legal liability that can be created through traditional written documents can be created through electronic documents.
Email and phone messages are potential evidence pieces in things like sexual harassment and discrimination cases. Third parties can also sue a company for the electronic activity of that company's employees, things like libeling against another company or violating electronic spam laws.

Issues of Copyright Law
Lastly, copyright law is a big deal when it comes to electronic messaging. Use a great legal staffing agency to figure out what you can and can't do with electronic messages. Just because you have a published document saved on your computer as a PDF does not mean that you own the rights to it. Forwarding a copy written document without permission from the publisher, even if it's just within your company's email system, can potentially get you into legal trouble. Be sure to find out if special clearance from a publisher is needed before sharing intellectual property electronically.

How Coffee Made Its Way Around the World

How Coffee Made Its Way Around the World
by ted sikkink

The exact details of how and when the process of making coffee was actually created aren't known. There is however a great deal of speculation and even a few legends about what happened. It is generally believed though that coffee was first drank somewhere during the fifth to seventh century of the Common Era.

In the sixteenth century a man named Abd al-Qadier al-Jaziri compiled a work that traced the history of the drink as best as possible. It showed how coffee made its way from Ethiopia to what is now knows as Yemen, where it was cultivated and turned into the drink. From Yemen coffee soon made it to places like Mecca, and eventually to larger places like Cairo and Baghdad.

Coffee had a lot of trouble making its way around the rest of the world, and got its start slowly. Its first venture to Europe was to Italy due to various trading connections Venice had with the Muslim world. There it was sold only to the rich who could afford the high cost, and was naturally considered a luxury. It wasn't long before coffee was also making its way through various channels to places like England and France. By the seventeenth century it was a known beverage in Austria and the Netherlands as well.

The acceptance of coffee had been slowed by the fact that it was largely considered to be a Muslim drink. Due to this, the church placed a ban on it making it impossible for the drink to become popular or even sold in some parts of Europe. It was in 1600 that the pope of the day lifted the ban, despite a great deal of protest, allowing more people to experience the drink.

Other churches placed bans on coffee during other time periods. At some point before the seventeenth century the Ethiopian Orthodox Church banned it along with other things like smoking. All of this was due to those things being associated with Muslims and Pagans.

Other bans on coffee existed over time for other reasons. For instance, by the end of the seventeenth century there were over three thousand coffee houses in England but it's widely believed that at one point women were forbidden to enter them. This wasn't a practice everywhere, but the ban existed in other parts of Europe as well.

Coffee made it to the Americas in the eighteenth century. One man in the French military managed to keep one coffee plant alive during the long trek to America and then planted in the Caribbean. That one plant was the start of what became millions upon millions of coffee plants in that area.

In the United States coffee took a lot longer to catch on. Tea was the drink of choice and coffee was a rarity. This was due to choice rather than availability. After the famous tea tax imposed by the British however, coffee was given its chance to shine. Coffee was declared the official national drink of the United States in protest of the tea tax. Today, coffee in the USA and other parts of America is a part of the way of life. Around the world it is one of the most popular drinks there are.

Best Man Wedding Speeches - Or: How To Preserve Your Friendship To The Groom

Best Man Wedding Speeches - Or: How To Preserve Your Friendship To The Groom
by Jared Wilmers

You're the best man for your best friend and with that comes the questionable privilege to give the best of all best man wedding speeches. Your friend's wedding is in four months. You are pretty close to being done dealing with your mixed feelings about his marriage and the fact that things won't be the same for your friendship afterwards. But you want him to be happy, so you're more than willing to give the speech of your life.

The speech doesn't make a re-appearance in your memory until a couple of months later, when someone said something wedding related in a conversation. Ok. Got to remember this one and you scribble a note on a napkin, just to make sure. Your speech is going to be one of those funny best man wedding speeches that everyone will remember. Of course you lose the napkin.
Three more weeks go by and you start to feel the pressure that you finally need to get something on paper. So you plan on sitting down on Saturday, after breakfast. Great plan. On Friday afternoon your best friend calls you and asks you to help him move some stuff into the new apartment. Of course you're happy to help. There was something you had planned for Saturday, but it couldn't have been very important since you can't seem to remember what it was.

Before you know it another week is gone, when picking up the potted palm trees for the reception it hits you right between the eyes: you still don't have a single syllable for the best of all best man wedding speeches. Oh, boy. And the wedding is in only a few days.
You don't dare asking your other friends for advice. Wouldn't they have a field day with this? So you finally get over yourself and go ask your dad. He's happy to help you and gives you a few pointers. You scribble them down, turn the page this way and that. Start writing your own thing, but it just won't flow. After wasting an entire yellow pad you're drenched in the sweat of desperation and ready to thrown in the towel and go confess.

Ehh, no, not yet. You remember your mom had a book from way back when that had best man wedding speeches examples, or was it groom's? Who cares? You go digging for the book and yes, it's still around and yes, the speeches were for the groom. - If this comes close to describing your life lately . . . you need a plan.

When you write a wedding speech you need a structure on which to build. Write yourself a list of your favorite things about your friend and include the bride in there too. Write down another short list of some great anecdotes from your past together. It's always great to be funny, but icky or embarrassing moments are better left out. Never lose sight of the feelings of both bride and groom (and anybody else present).

Begin focusing on the couple and point out some of the things that make them a great couple. Follow that up with a sweep through the past, from when you first knew your friend and uncover some memories to share with everybody (don't forget: tasteful and funny). Then you could go over the first moments in the couple's relationship from your own perspective (stay with the official version). Throughout weave in nice details about the bride and the groom. Project their happy future together and your very important part in that and . . . close with a witty toast. Altogether, don't go too long. Short and sweet is always best.
Here's a simple structure you can use. Pack it with your own experiences and you've got a best man wedding speech, all structured and to the point. One thing to keep in mind: When giving best man wedding speeches, don't embarrass anybody present. It could put a real dent into the celebration and into your friendship with the groom. Always make sure you're on the good side of the bride and you'll have a life-long friendship with both him and her.

Using The Creative Mind Power To Solve Problems

Using The Creative Mind Power To Solve Problems
by Amy Twain

The great difference between the big winners in life and almost everyone else lies in their skill and capacities in solving problems. And you could be one of these big winners, too! Like them, you came out into this universe prepared and provided with the natural and inherent power in solving these problems. Our subconscious mind, which is the seat of our feelings and emotions, is the important aspect to everything. And you just have to learn how to tap your creative mind power to deal and manage your problems and difficulties successfully. As a matter of fact, it is very possible for you in programming and orienting your mental computer to face and deal any problems which you might come across.

Therefore, if you would be able to unlock your creative mind power, you would then be able to control it to your infinite good. Two of the world's geniuses like Thomas Edison and Sir Isaac Newton, are great examples of how they learned to utilize the power of their creative minds. In the case of Thomas Edison, the amazing amount of persistence he exhibited and demonstrated in his quest to invent and bring about the electric bulb is a legendary feat. But in spite of numerous obstacles, he was unfazed and never flustered because he was always convinced that each problem has a solution.

According to the official biographer of Sir Isaac Newton, the exceptionally talented physicist and mathematician had a unique gift: he possessed the skill and capability in holding a problem continuously in his thoughts until he had seen it through. Sir Isaac Newton shared the same mindset with Thomas Edison; he knew all problems had solutions. He also knew and realized that all he needed to do in order to reach and come to a practicable solution was through the power of his creative mind. You can also learn how to tap your creative mind power and may become a genius.

Or, you could, at least perform or function like one. The potential to become a genius is there. When we are focusing on our problems, the preoccupation with them enlarges them to proportions vastly larger than they are in reality. It might take some time in solving our problems, and the solutions might not be precisely be pleasurable and comfortable. When we hit creative mind power in order to look for a solution, then the problem would be solved. Actually, practical and effective solutions oftentimes need you to invest added effort to carry them out. But when you use your creative mind power, you will see that great solutions to the problems are just there all the while.

There are strategies and techniques to help you develop and enhance your natural innate competencies to conquer any problem you would ever come across. It could never be said frequently enough: you have within you the skill and power in solving each and every problem. When you have adopted this firm belief that you can hurdle any challenge, then you have finally reached the beginning on the path to successful living.

The Number 1 Way to Lower Your Electric Bill by Real Writer

The Number 1 Way to Lower Your Electric Bill by Real Writer

Does your electric bill seem to be more and more expensive each month? Energy bills can be much, much higher than we'd like, particularly in big homes or poorly insulated houses.
We're all aware of the many small changes that can lower an electric bill, including using compact fluorescent light bulbs, sealing cracks along windows and doors, and installing energy-saving appliances. There is another great way to permanently lower your electricity bill. It's called electricity deregulation.

Deregulation Lowers Your Electric Bill Forever
Unlike the electricity-saving means explained above, electricity deregulation requires very little effort and no spending on the part of the consumer. There's nothing to buy, and no home improvements necessary. In less than ten minutes, you can permanently receive a lower, no-hassle electric bill. Here's how.

Electricity Deregulation Explained
Up until a few years ago, consumers had no say in their electricity provider - there was just one option, the local utility company. This meant that the local utility company had a monopoly on the electricity industry, and therefore could charge consumers outrageous rates.

Today, consumers in several states across the nation can choose who supplies their electricity. Electricity deregulation empowers consumers, encourages industry competition, and results in a permanently lower electric bill!

It Really This Easy?
Once you switch to an electricity supplier offering a lower rate, there's nothing left for you to do. You'll still receive a single electric bill, but due to deregulation, the bill will reflect the lower rate offered by the private electricity supplier you choose. And if you experience a power outage, you'll still contact your local utility company to correct the problem. The sole purpose of electricity deregulation is to provide consumers with a lower electric bill. It's that easy!

How Much Will I Save by Switching Suppliers?
The total amount you can save on electricity though deregulation depends on the supplier you choose. Most deregulation consumers can lower their electric bill between 300 to 500 dollars a year! It's never been easier to lower your electric bill. Don't hesitate - start today!

New Grandparents Rights - 7 Things Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Should Know

New Grandparents Rights - 7 Things Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Should Know
By Jacquelyn Dunn

This is an article that is hard to write because it comes straight from my heart. My son was killed in a car wreck in February of 2008. The world as I knew it changed drastically. My son and his wife had 2 daughters and as God would have it, not known to anyone at the time a 3rd on the way. Another precious little girl. You can think everything but the bottom line for us has been that when my daughter-in-law choose to make a new life for herself, which she should, she has chosen to change the right for us to see the children. I was told by different people that were no grandparents rights but I have found out that is not correct.

Most if not all states are allowing grandparents visitation rights because they have established that these children need this bond with their grandparents. The number of grandparents raising grandchildren is on the rise due to several things that have been evolving over the last few years. The number one in my opinion is drug and substance abuse. These children in most instances are better off in a loving home than being placed with the state to take care of. I can not imagine not knowing where my grandchildren are but I am being put in a position of not knowing now if they are OK and not getting to see them on a regular basic. Below are 7 things that are strictly my opinion that grandparents should consider if they are facing any of these situations.

1. Search out help Talk with a lawyer and see what your options are in your state.

2. Fight for your rights Never give up easily the right to see your grandchildren.

3. Be patient with the children They cannot help what their parents do so do not put them in the middle and ask them to choose between you and their parents.

4. Learn your rights Do not listen to other people find out for yourself where you stand. At first I listened to other people and they were not correct. I wasted precious time.

5. Be prepared Be prepared to accept the rights that you are asking for.

6. Know that with these rights comes the responsibility of these rights What if at some point they wanted or had to come live with you. Could you take them. Our roles may be changing from grandparents to parents again. A big change when we are facing retirement.

7. Love Them with all you have In my case with the lose of my son I have to remind myself that these children have lost their father. They are suffering too so above all else just let them know that you do want to see them and that you love them very much.

This article is a little off from what I usually write but it is real life for me right now and something I am dealing with that maybe other people are too. Seek and find the help that you need to make your world a better place. Never give up.

I hope you never have this problem but if you do be sure and search out your options. The New Grandparents Rights are certainly something to check out. I wish you all the best. Good luck with your grandchildren.

Protecting Business Secrets

Protecting Business Secrets
By Ian Falcone

You've worked hard to build your business; to develop your sales and marketing techniques, to build strong customer relations, to earn a competitive advantage. But, every day you risk losing that advantage. You hire employees, you train them, you disclose your secrets to them and then, one day, they leave. Most will leave on good terms, but some will try to take unfair advantage of what you have taught them.

There are ways to protect yourself and minimize your risk. Two basic concepts, non-disclosure and non-competition can help you protect your competitive advantage.

Non-disclosure can prevent a former employee from telling a competitor what he has learned from you. Non-competition can prevent someone from starting or working for a similar business and using your secrets against you. In certain situations, the obligations are presumed. In most, however, a written agreement is required.

In Georgia, certain types of information known as trade secrets are protected without the need for a written agreement. Generally speaking, any information which is not commonly known to the general public, which can not be easily obtained and which provides an economic advantage can be protected. This can include special designs or manufacturing processes, financial data, sales techniques and even customer lists. However, information which fits the broad definition does not automatically receive protection. Reasonable steps must be taken to keep the information secret.

Good examples of trade secrets are the formula for famous beverages or the eleven secret herbs and spices of a famous brand of fried chicken. Your trade secret information may be far less marketable than these examples, but they are valuable to your company and are entitled to protection.

Unfortunately, it is often difficult and expensive to protect your business= trade secrets. Moreover, the court may determine that your information is not a trade secret and will not grant protection. If you have confidential information which you want to protect, a written agreement is always best.

A non-disclosure agreement can protect information whether or not the law would grant trade secret status. The length of protection can be substantial, however, it is best to reserve permanent non-disclosure terms for true trade secrets. Also, if your company routinely discloses its information, it is unlikely that a non-disclosure agreement would be enforceable.

Non-competition agreements provide an entirely different type of protection for your business. These written documents prevent a former employee from going into business or working for a competitor and then using the experience he has gained under your guidance against you.

In order to be enforceable, Georgia law requires that the agreement be reasonable in three respects: 1) scope, 2) location and 3) duration. Scope refers to the industry or type of work that is prohibited. Location refers to the geographic area that is prohibited. Finally, duration or length of agreement is crucial.

Generally, agreements that last more than 2 years are questionable. However, the facts of each situation will determine the reasonableness of the restrictions. In one situation a sort term agreement may be too restrictive. In another, a long term agreement may be enforceable.

It is important to understand that Georgia law states that either the agreement as a whole is enforceable or it is not. If it is unreasonable in any respect, the entire agreement is unenforceable. What is reasonable is different in every situation. Severe restrictions may be reasonable for a vice president, while the same restrictions may be unreasonable for a receptionist. The best rule of thumb is use these agreements sparingly and seek only reasonable protection. An attempt to over-protect your business may result in no protection at all.

Finally, a well drafted agreement and some internal procedures can provide your business with substantial protection. However, employees are supposed to gain knowledge, contacts and experience over time. The law will not enforce an agreement which unreasonably restrains someone from earning a living. If you have information which you want to protect, it is best to contact a local attorney.

Getting Out of Renting

Getting Out of Renting
By Mike Sumsky

Renting does have some advantages. If it didn't, no one would do it. The disadvantages of renting, however, are many and significant. The first, and most obvious, is that the money you spend on rent is essentially thrown away. The money is not tax-deductible, in most cases, and gains you no equity in the property in which you live. Another disadvantage is that renting offers little say over how you arrange, decorate and modify your home. Your home or apartment, of course, belongs to the landlord and they, ultimately, get the last word on any changes.

For most individuals, the obvious alternative to renting is buying a home. The intimidating amount of money, process of getting financing and other hassles of purchasing a home keep many individuals from even bothering to try. There is something in between, however, that allows you an opportunity to establish yourself in a house without taking on all of the financial responsibilities. These lease to own options, as they're often called, offer you an opportunity to get out of renting without the difficulties usually associated with getting a mortgage.

Lease to own arrangements are often offered by real estate investors who want a better quality tenant who will ultimately buy the home. These individuals allow clients who may not qualify for a mortgage to get into a home. The way the arrangement works is that you pay a down payment on the home and then sign onto a lease. The lease contains the option for you to purchase the home, at a price that is locked in from the beginning. This means that, if you live in the home for two years and the market improves significantly, you may purchase the home at the price that is much lower than market value. In markets such as Port Orchard and Bremerton, this can mean significant profits.

A great deal of the expense associated with home ownership is eliminated under these arrangements. Instead of paying a large mortgage payment every month, plus taxes and plus insurance, you merely pay your lease payment, and a portion of the payment will apply towards the purchase. You are not liable for the taxes on the property until you actually purchase the home. Some of the individuals who offer these arrangements will also allow their clients to pay off their down payments in several installments, reducing the financial burden of coming up with that amount of money all at once.

Washington Home Solutions is located in Port Orchard and offers lease opportunities to people who would like to own a home, but need time to get financing together and would like to explore lease to own opportunities.
How GPS Tracking Works - Information

How GPS Tracking Works - Information
By Jennifer Waller

GPS stands for Global Positioning System. Basically it means being able to locate anything in a certain position on the globe through the use of satellite tracking. Most people are familiar with GPS tracking for cars, but it can be used to track anything that has an appropriate device attached that can send a signal. The system works through a series of satellites that continuously orbit the Earth. It was originally designed by the U.S. military to use for navigational purposes.

The satellites themselves weigh between 3,000 - 4,000 pounds and travel at a speed of 12,000 miles, which means they make two complete rotations around the Earth every day. The satellites are arranged in the atmosphere above the Earth. At any given time there are four that are visible in the sky as seen from the surface of the Earth. A GPS unit that is used as a receiver sends its signal out to one of the four satellites in its area. The satellite sends the signal back to the receiver and this how a GPS tracking device can determine its position on the Earth.

Another factor in using the satellites to determine an object's location is time. By using the four satellites within its signal range, the satellites determine the time the signals were sent in conjunction with how far away the satellite is to determine the exact location of the object. The GPS receiver actually sends its signal to more than one satellite to determine its exact position. When the GPS device receives the information back, it then displays its location on the monitor's map.

The design of the GPS receiver makes the device extremely accurate even in areas where there may be interference from very high buildings such as skyscrapers. The newest receivers use what is called a WAAS (wide area augmentation system) which can greatly improve the transmission of the GPS device. Of course the units vary in construction depending on the manufacturer of the product. If you are considering using GPS tracking for cars, talk to your local authorized dealer to make sure you get the exact device you want to have.

The first GPS satellite ever launched into space was in 1978. Even though there are now 27 in total, only 24 of them are actually operational at this time. The satellites are built to have a life expectancy of about 10 years. There are some external factors that can cause interference in the transmissions to and from the satellites. The ionosphere itself can cause the signal to slow down, although the satellites are built to take this delay into consideration when sending signals. The signal path can also be interrupted by having it bounce off of other surfaces before reaching the satellite. And on Earth, the GPS receiving unit itself can also have an internal clock error which could read the signal back wrong and cause it to place itself in a different location.

It's a new year - and lots of people are thinking that maybe 2006 will be The Year of the New Job. If that describes you, then you'll want to start planning for your big exodus. But don't start strewing resumes across the landscape before taking care of a few getting-going items, described below. If you're thinking about buying some spiffy new interviewing duds, get out to the stores now before the January sales are over! Good luck, and happy job-hunting...

Starting a New-Year Job Search

1) GET YOUR RESUME READY

That means on paper, on-line, and plain text (for inclusion in attachments). It means one-page and concise, spell-checked, and reviewed by someone who can give you great feedback on the content and the layout. These days, cool colors, marbled textures and funky typefaces are out. Clean, crisp and confident is the watchword.

2) GET A GROWN-UP EMAIL ADDRESS

Hotmail, MSN and Yahoo email addresses aren't suitable for a job seeker because of throughput issues and buffer size. Also, your "SailingGirl@qwest.com" is not a professional email address. Give yourself an advantage and use an adult email address on all job-related correspondence. Make sure this email address is on your resume and that all your friends have it, for use when they're making introductions between you and possible job-search contacts.

3) CHECK YOUR PHONE MESSAGE CAPABILITIES

Figure out how to collect messages remotely if you don't already know. Get rid of the cute kid message or the clever one that impresses your college friends. If the home phone machine isn't reliable, get a separate number for your job search.

4) GET JOB-SEARCH BUSINESS CARDS

Even if you're already employed, go to http://www.vistaprint.com and get free business cards (no kittens or hot-air balloons) just for use in your job search. Include the position you're looking for, three bullet points about your skills and education, and phone and email contact information.

5) GO ONLINE

Get on networking sites like LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com) and WorldWIT, the free email discussion network for professional women (but men are welcome, too - full disclosure, I helped to start the group) to get your online networking rolling!

6) USE YOUR ALUM CONNECTIONS

Even if you graduated from school twenty years ago, your alumni network is a powerful tool that you shouldn't underestimate. Many schools have databases of grads that you can search for people in companies or industries you're interested in - then pick up the phone and call them!

7) GET OUT THERE

Go to at least one face to face networking event a week. Use Google or your daily paper to learn about them - bring your job-hunting business cards (not your resume) and start chatting! Practice starting conversations and sustaining them, focusing on the other person. If it's appropriate, within a few minutes you will have the opportunity to describe your own situation: "I'm a ten-year marketing professional, and right now I'm looking for my next opportunity."

8) GET YOUR PITCH DOWN

Your pitch should take two forms: a verbal 20-second introduction, and an Objective statement on your resume. What are you good at? What have you done? Where have you worked? What do you want to do next? When people ask you "What sort of job are you looking for?" you want to be able to quickly and
enthusiastically describe your ideal situation.

9) TELL EVERYONE YOU ARE LOOKING

Everyone except your boss, that is - if you're already employed. Tell your college friends, your neighbors, and all the people you've ever worked with whom you're still in touch. People at your kids' school, people at your gym. Your job search knows no boundaries - networking is THE best way to get a new position.

10) CALL ON YOUR NETWORK

Create a great "here's-what-I'm-looking-for" email message, and send it (bcc:ing everyone on the list) to everyone in your Address Book (everyone except people who might rat you out to your boss, if you're currently employed). Ask them to keep your job search in mind during their New Year networking - and offer to do THEM a favor, too - reciprocity is essential!

The New Year is a great time to jump into a job search. And after the New year, companies are hiring. Get out there and look!

Mathematics - Important Dates Before Christ

Mathematics - Important Dates Before Christ
By Owen Jones

Mathematics is one of those subjects that you either love or you hat, is it not? Unfortunately, most people say that they hate it. I think that this is a real shame, because it is almost trendy to not like mathematics and yet it is so important a factor in everyone's life. I venture to guess that everyone uses mathematics every hour of every day that they are awake.

People work out whether they have enough tie to cross the road safely; they calculate the total cost of their shopping trolley in order to avoid embarrassment at the checkout and they expect to get the correct change. This constant use cannot be said about any other subject except language.

Anyway, here is my small attempt to make mathematics more interesting. It is a list of important dates in the history of mathematics before Jesus Christ was born.

c.30,000 BC - people in Europe began to use scratches or notches to record numbers.

c.3,500 BC - the Egyptians developed a system of numerals that could record very high numbers, because there are different symbols for ones, tens, hundreds and thousands.

c.2,400 BC - a numeration system was introduced in to Mesopotamia, which was similar to the Hindu-Arabic system based on the placement of the symbol.

c.2,000 BC - mathematicians in Mesopotamia learned how to solve quadratic equations accurately.

c.1,900 BC - Mesopotamian mathematicians discovered what we now call the Pythagorean theorem: the square of the hypotenuse triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

c.470 BC - Hippasas of Metapontum (Greek: c 500) discovered the dodecahedron or 12-regular-sided solid.

c.450 BC - Pythagoreans showed that some lengths cannot be measured accurately. For example the diagonal of a 1x1 square cannot be measured accurately using one of its sides as a unit.

c.300 BC - Euclid's 'Elements' (Greek: c 300) showed that virtually all parts of mathematics can be proved by a short list of rules.

c.260 BC - the Maya in Central America developed a system of numeration based on the symbols' place value.

c.250 BC - Archimedes (Greek: 287 BC - 212 BC) established important theorems about the volume of solids. He also made a very passable approximation of PI and developed a system for representing very large numbers

c.230 BC - Apollonius of Perga (Greek: c 262 - 190) writes his work called 'Conics', which is an analysis of curves such as parabola, ellipse and hyperbola.

I hope that this list of the work that the ancients did will spark your interest in mathematics to encourage you to revisit the subject that you probably hated as a child and realize that it was not so bad after all.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on many subjects, but is currently involved with researching the Microsoft antivirus software.
Things You Need for a Poker Party

Things You Need for a Poker Party

The next time you throw a poker party, make it as authentic as possible. How do you do that? Simply get all the casino equipment you can and make the environment fit. Get a group together, put on your visors and glasses, smoke your cigars, and get ready to bet. Here is what you will need for the most authentic home poker party possible.

One: Get an Octagon poker table with the real green and red felt.

Two: Customized poker chips, name your casino and give all your chips a look that’s completely ownable. You should probably have about 1000 chips, just in case.

Three: More than three sets of playing cards. Don’t get plain ones either, get some high quality, rounded corners, casino like playing cards.

Four: An automatic, 6 deck card shuffler.

Five: The best poker books you can find, in case the rules get a little blurry throughout the night.

Six: Of course you need snacks, drinks, and smokes. It just wouldn’t be a party without finger food and it wouldn’t be a poker tournament without cigars and cigarillos.

When setting up a poker environment, make it in a basement or somewhere cooler in the house, with lots of room for breathing. Take into account how many people you’ll be having beforehand and plan accordingly. You can stretch your theme a little further and set up a mini bar or outside tiki bar. You may even think about setting up a hookah break. Just make sure the bar stools, the napkins, and décor all go with the poker, Texas Hold’Em theme.

Eliminate Credit Card Debt – Read on to Know How

Credit card companies will probably not help you eliminate credit card debt. The reason is the fact that credit card companies make most of their money through the interest that they collect on credit card debts. A study reveals that in the year 2006, the profit made by credit card companies through interest alone was close to a hundred million US dollars! This is why a number of companies do not encourage credit card debt consolidation. There are ways to legally eliminate credit card debt. To know more about how you can eliminate credit card debt and its legal aspects, read on.

A Few Ways in Which You Can Eliminate Credit Card Debt

A number of individuals opt for an easy home equity loan to pay off their credit card debts. This mode of credit card consolidation would be advisable only in case your credit card debt has not already skyrocketed. This approach is highly popular in the face of the fact that the late fees and interest rates charged by most credit card companies are simply atrocious. An untimely repayment can cost you a lot, quite literally. Your financial advisor may not advice you to go for this option as you may land up using your credit card again to make up for the deficit in your finances caused by the new loan. If you are on a stable salary package then you can latch on to a credit-counseling firm. This is one of the alternatives available to you to legally eliminate credit card debt. Through this approach, you commit yourself to pay a certain amount every month to the firm that you are attached to. The credit card debt consolidation company on the other hand takes up the responsibility of distributing your funds efficiently to all the credit card companies you need to repay.

How to Eliminate Credit Card Debt in the Worst of the Situations

In the worst of the situations, you have two options available:

Debt Settlement
Bankruptcy

To eliminate credit card debt you can use debt settlement as one of the last alternatives for credit card consolidation. If your condition is so bad that even the payment of your monthly bills is becoming a problem, you can then opt for debt settlement, the most effective way to legally eliminate credit card debt. The credit card company in this case can reduce the repayment amount by as much as fifty percent and may even accept the sum in five or six installments.

The other option available of course is declaring bankruptcy. This should really be your last option as it completely messes up your public record. To legally eliminate credit card debt through the declaration of bankruptcy, you must make sure you have the aid of a good bankruptcy lawyer else, your case may go horribly wrong.

Green Christmas Gift Wrapping

Green Christmas Gift Wrapping
By Maya Couzins

Gift wrapping paper is one of the most wasteful aspects of Christmas. Every year we see ever more elaborate and expensive Christmas wrapping paper, it hardly gets looked at before it is torn open by eager hands and ends up as landfill. One of the biggest sources of waste each Christmas is gift wrapping paper, with more than 8,000 tones being used each year - the equivalent of approximately 50,000 trees {The Guardian UK].This is a whole forest cut down each year just to wrap Christmas gifts!

Most of the wrapping paper cannot be properly recycled as it is often coated in metal foil or plastic laminated. Think also of the toxic inks and dyes used in the manufacture and you could easily see how the seemingly innocuous Christmas paper is very damaging to the environment.

There are many creative ways to wrap your Christmas presents and save the environment as well as give a green message.

Here are ten ways you could use to make an environmentally friendly Christmas wrapping for your presents:

1.Use a pretty scarf as a wrap and tie it like a normal parcel or bundle it up and tie it with a fabric ribbon.
2.A piece of fabric which could be reused as something else.
3.A funky tea towel made of organic cotton for edible presents or recipe books.
4.Recycle and reuse last year's paper wrapping.
5.Paint a plain pillow case for several small presents for children.
6.A reusable shopping bag with handles made out of cotton, hemp or bamboo .
7.A cardboard box or a tin that could be used as storage for other goods.
8.Recycle old boxes or paper bags with cut out pictures from old magazines.
9.A T-shirt can be used to wrap a present for a teen.
10.Purchase fair trade recycled paper printed with eco friendly ink if you are too busy to make your own.

There are so many ways to avoid the waste of Christmas wrapping paper, get the children involved and they will have hours of fun devising ways to save the environment.

How to Take Care of Your Snowblower

How to Take Care of Your Snow blower
By : Billy Whitmire

Your snow blower is a well designed machine, and as such must be given the appropriate level of maintenance to ensure proper operation. Getting into the habit of inspecting your snow blower, and performing regularly scheduled tasks will help you to extend the useful lifespan of the machine. Listed below are some of the maintenance tasks that will help your snow blower to function as designed and operate efficiently.

Inspect Tire Chains

Change the Oil/Filter

Change the Spark Plug

Tighten or Replace Belts and Bolts

Inspect Tire Chains: The importance of your snow blower's tires and chains cannot be taken for granted. Having excellent traction while you are removing snow is vital for efficient and safe operation. The tire pressure should be maintained according to the manufacturer's specifications at all times. If your inspect shows that the tire chains are damaged, they should be repaired or replaced immediately. It is critical that a snow blower have the best possible traction, and maneuverability for safe operations.

Keeping the tires pressured, and chains in good working order will give a snow blower the best traction possible for safe maneuvering.

Change the Oil/Filter: If your snow blower has a four stroke engine and you want to keep in running smoothly for a long time, changing the oil and filter is the best thing you can do to ensure it. Oil that has lost its viscosity cannot protect your snow blower's engine properly and must be changed, or the engine will be damaged. To do so, loosen the drain plug, drain the old oil, and replace the oil plug. Now loosen the oil filter, replace it with a new one, and refill the engine with new 5W30 oil.

To keep you snow blower operating smoothly, and the engine lubricated sufficiently, change the oil and filter as specified in your owner's manual.

Change the Spark Plug: For your snow blower's engine to operate properly, the sparkplug must be in good condition, and firing properly. With the sediments, and chemicals in fuel, sparkplugs often become worn, and can lose their full functioning. A worn sparkplug will cause the engine to work harder under normal conditions. By inspecting the spark plug for wear, or damage, and replacing it when needed will go a long way toward helping the engine to perform at optimum levels at all times.

The ability of your snow blower's engine to produce maximum output of horsepower requires a fully functioning sparkplug.

Tighten or Replace Belts and Bolts: Performing an overall and periodic inspection of your snow blower will allow you to identify any loose or damaged belts or bolts and repair them. Loose bolts or worn and damaged belts can create an operation hazard, so they must be replaced or repaired. Over time due to the vibration of the machine, bolts can become loose, and need to be tightened. The belts on your snow blower will become worn just from regular operation, and must be replaced as soon as they begin to show signs of wear.

Performing a periodic inspection of your snow blower can help you to identify any bolts that need tightening, or belts that need replacing.

Vietnam: Opportunity Is Everywhere

Vietnam: Opportunity Is Everywhere
by Tim Gray

When Todd Brizendine lost his New York marketing job in November 2008, he immediately began shooting off resumes and calling on friends and former colleagues to try to land a new gig. At 40, he had solid experience as an online marketing exec, but no one was hiring. He started feeling fortunate even to receive a reply.

So Brizendine decided to follow the career path of a friend, who three years earlier had relocated to Vietnam to work as a sales director for a Vietnamese furniture manufacturer and was now talking up the opportunities in Southeast Asia. Brizendine concluded it was worth a shot. “I wasn’t going to stick around and suffer through the mess that someone else made,” he says. “I decided to skip the recession altogether. I was going to become a refugee.”

Brizendine moved to Ho Chi Minh City, tapped into the active expat community, and within a month landed a job as director of media intelligence with TNS Vietnam, the local branch of research firm TNS Global. His main role is to help clients track their online spending and improve their advertising efforts. His employer didn’t care about an MBA, which Brizendine doesn’t have. He says what execs there wanted was solid business experience in America, and in return, they happily helped him secure the required work permits.

While the country’s been battling high inflation, it never experienced the sort of financial crisis some economists had feared. In fact, the Asian Development Bank predicts Vietnam’s GDP will grow 6.5 percent in 2010, while Credit Suisse puts that figure as high as 8.5 percent. At the same time, lending rates are low and the stock market has been on the rise, spurring confidence among the expats and locals alike. “Opportunity is everywhere,” says Brizendine. “You just have to look.”

The telecom sector is expanding, and many firms are looking for managerial workers, according to a Research and Markets report. Intel, which next year expects to finish construction of a $1 billion semiconductor factory near Hanoi, plans to add 4,000 employees. And there is growing foreign investment interest in Vietnamese industries since the country became a member of the World Trade Organization in 2007, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

All this has lifted demand for experienced foreigners because much of the population remains under qualified for upper-level roles, according to Mary Anne Thompson, founder and president of Going Global, a company that sells country-specific career and employment information to more than one million customers worldwide.

Wages are lower than comparable jobs in the U.S., but the cost of living is too. Brizendine, who’s making approximately 50 percent of what he made before getting let go in New York, says he’s living like a multimillionaire, enjoying five-star weekends at crystalline beaches, elephant trekking in Vietnam’s lush mountain locales, and exploring nearby Cambodia’s famed Angkor temples all on budget-traveler prices. He’s even stashing away savings for his eventual return.

He’s also found surprising advantages just being American. “I was once asked to meet with the CEO of a company who asked me if I would give a short presentation. When I explained to her that this was for a different department and I wasn’t familiar with the material, she replied, ‘I know, but you are quite handsome and Vietnamese respect Americans, so they won’t ask you any questions.’”

Ah. So here’s a question you don’t need to ask: Why is Todd Brizendine in no hurry to come home?

Using Web conferencing To Hold Family Get-Together's

Using Web conferencing To Hold Family Get-Together
Bob Carper

During World War II when Italy was fighting on the side of the Axis, a certain number of American aviators were shot down over Sicily and Southern Italy near Naples. Those that were taken prisoner by the Italians found something interesting ..the welcome mat was out !!! The Italians were so interested in making connections and building friendships with Americans living in Chicago, New Jersey, Rochester, and Pittsburgh that they forgot they were in the middle of a war. Family was family, war or no.

Even the Germans were quick to explore connections across the war zone. Chicago had a huge German population. Again, they were more interested in exploring family connection than fighting a war.

That was way back in 1942. Since then, the world family has expanded beyond belief. In every country, there are people that have friends and relatives living all over the world. A family living in Rochester NY may have close friends and relatives living in Salerno, Italy, Naples, Italy, and many points located elsewhere around the world. Even now, there are huge segments of our population that have relatives in Viet Nam, China, India, Russia, and Korea.

How do they stay in touch? The long distances and high costs of global travel make it impossible. So, they now can do the next best thing. They can set up an electronic "family room." The "family room" is always open. All a family member has to do is log on to the conference, and in three minutes or less, he or she is in the room along with all friends and relatives located all over the world. They can exchange their latest photographs, and even show videos of themselves to all family members. The "family room" is the next best thing to being there in person. Even friends and acquaintances can be invited in, no matter where they live. For example, look at these family events that can be displayed:

Julie living in Rochester NY just had twins. Her husband Steve just took some awesome videos of her in the hospital. Through Secure Web conferencing, the whole family gets into the "family room" to see the new twins and have a celebration, no matter where they are in the world.

Sam just bought a new house in Oakland, New Jersey. With his video camera and Secure Web conferencing, he takes the entire family on a tour of the whole house, especially the swimming pool and the basement rec room. Awesome !!!!!

Jeffrey and Linda just got engaged. What better way is there for the whole families of the engaged couple to get together and meet one another than over a "family room" - or maybe more than one "family rooms"
Funny Christmas Songs For Children - Groove King Senseless
By Troy Johns

Ho, ho, ho! It's that time of year again folks, and as we count down the days to Christmas, now is a great time to learn some funny Christmas songs. After all, 'tis the season to be jolly! Stretch your vocal chords, or stretch your fingers on the piano, and have the whole family laughing with these new, funny Christmas songs for children.

Doth Thou Know'st Ye Olde Lyrics?

The traditional carols have such beautiful melodies, but sometimes the lyrics to Christmas songs are hard to understand. After a "hither", a "thou know'st", and a "good league", most adults start to lose the plot, so imagine how difficult it must be for children! To make the traditional Christmas songs more relevant for today's kids, I decided it was time to write some new song lyrics.

So I set to work and wrote a collection of funny Christmas songs for children that preserves the original melodies of our favorite Christmas carols, but breathes completely new life into them. They're Christmas songs like you've never heard them before! They're wierd, wacky, and warped, but all in good fun! Here's a sample:

Groove King Senseless
(To the tune of Good King Wenceslas)

Groove King senseless last looked out
On his fans all screaming.
Drove into a round-about,
Deep in his day dreaming.

Brightly shone the police light,
Though his fate was cruel.
When he stumbled out of sight,
Up went all the fu-u-el!

Turn the page and you will see
Why the news is selling
Vonda Shepherd, who is she?
What's with all the yelling?

Says she jumped a giant fence
From a nearby mountain
For his love - it makes no sense
But she hit the fountain!

Bring me flesh, and bring me bones
Please don't take forever.
How can I answer the phones?
'Til she's back together.

Here's a left and there's a right
Fixed with lots of good glue
Poor Groove King got such a fright
Do you think he'll sue?

Funny Christmas songs are a great way to encourage children to sing or play piano. Practicing an instrument can seem like a chore, so the more fun you can make it, the better! The Christmas carols I chose as candidates for new lyrics, have simple yet powerful melodies that make the sheet music suitable for older children or intermediate students.

Anyone who just wants to sing along instead (big kids included!), will have a great time with these wacky new lyrics! Funny Christmas songs allow children to sing along easily while they learn the original tune, and have fun! Why not even have a go at writing your own funny words? The whole family could have a competition to see who can write the funniest lyrics. Surprise your friends and family this Christmas with some outrageous, warped, and funny Christmas songs!

Why Door To Door Marketing Makes Good Business Sense

Why Door To Door Marketing Makes Good Business Sense
By Dominic Donaldson

Door to door marketing offers any business the opportunity for excellent return on investment.

Delivering leaflets through the doors of the demographic you wish to target is possibly one of the only ways you can be sure that your advertisement is going directly into the home of your potential customers.

Door to door marketing is proving to be an effective tool for businesses in the current economic climate because, unlike other forms of marketing, it is unlikely to consume the whole advertising budget, yet brings in real results.

It's important for business owners to select an established, trustworthy leaflet distribution company to distribute their leaflets; scrimping and choosing the cheapest company can, while on the surface appearing to save money, actually be a false economy. A distribution company is a business in itself after all, and if rates are too low, it's unlikely that you will be getting the service you think you are, and some leaflets may go undelivered to cut corners.

Thankfully, there are many reputable companies offering this service, and that will work with a client to tailor their marketing campaign, and even help with artwork design.

Jeffrey Stevens is a small business owner who had seen profits gradually slide as the recession took hold. Jeffrey's business is an Indian restaurant in a medium-sized town's centre, and is of the mid-range pricing bracket.

The restaurant has been open for seven years, but for the last nine months business had taken a definite turn for the worse as people stayed at home to save money rather than eating out.

Jeffrey thought long and hard about an appropriate marketing strategy, and contacted local press to explore the avenue of advertising in their publications.

One option was to advertise in a county-wide glossy magazine, but the rate was extortionate and he couldn't be certain of any real return on investment, despite being subjected to the hard sell by the publication's advertising executive.

The local newspaper offered equally dim prospects, and so Jeffrey decided to try door to door marketing in the form of leaflet distribution.

Jeffrey decided to appeal to people's money-saving mood, and designed leaflets that offered a buy one yet one free deal on main courses. This way, when people did come to his restaurant, they would have the satisfaction of getting a real bargain for their money. The restaurant took most of its profit from the wine and beer it sold with the food, and so offering a meal free in this manner would not really eat into profit.

Jeffrey soon saw a very measurable return on his investment, with a huge surge in customers, all brandishing buy one get one free vouchers.

Door to door marketing is an excellent way for local businesses to promote their products and services to a targeted demographic of potential customers. What better way to tell them about your brand than to land it straight on to their doorstep?

How to Run a Webinar

How to Run a Webinar
By eHow Contributing Writer

Business meetings conducted via the Internet called webinars—for web seminar—are part of our high tech world today. The ability to see the charts and graphs as if you were sitting right in the office is a reality. The people who attend these conference calls can be in different cities, or even different states. If they can access a computer, they can access the meeting.

Instructions

Step1
Choose a web conference company to host your webinar.

Step 2
Reserve your meeting time and date of the seminar with the company.

Step 3
Send out invitations to all the people who should attend your webinar. Provide complete information, such as the call-in number for the conference call and web address of the online seminar.

Step 4Do a practice run the day before your webinar to make sure everything runs smoothly. Although the company may charge you for this, do not skip this step. Ask a couple of people you trust call in and participate in a trial of your conference. Familiarize yourself with the controls, and troubleshoot any points with the conference company before the main event.

Step 5
Respect the time of the people you have invited to the web seminar by arriving early and starting the conference on time.

Step 6
Share the information with your participants, but keep the presentation focused and on point.

Step 7
Take charge of the question-and-answer period by answering questions quickly and concisely. Discourage questions that are off-topic. Instead, address these by telling participants that you can also correspond with them later after the webinar.

Step 8
End your webinar by thanking all who came for giving their time and attention to your material.

Christmas on a Budget

Christmas on a Budget
By John Dow

With difficult financial times facing many this holiday season, Christmas celebrations will be tough to fit in an already stretched budget. But you really don't have to spend a lot of money to enjoy the holiday and some of the most fun has nothing to do with spending money.

My father was always thinking of ways to make us understand and appreciate our good fortune by sharing with others. We were big on family meetings where we would discuss upcoming events and plans for vacations or outings. One year it was decided that everyone would give half of their allowance and any money earned in November or December to a charity of their choice.

My father was very into teaching us the value of a dollar and although we did get an allowance we had to do chores to compensate. We also used to do things like shovel snow and mow lawns, wash cars, or any kind of odd job for neighbors, and try and earn a few dollars too.

Along with the giving half of our allowances to charity that year, he also limited our spending amounts on presents. The idea was to realize that you didn't have to spend a lot of money to buy gifts and it was the thought and joy of giving that was important. This was a challenge for me since I barely was able to get everyone a present with my allowance and any extra money I made in the two months.

I was 11 years old that year and I had two sisters; one that was 13 and one that was 15. This proved to be quite a dilemma for all three of us. Which brings to mind that the one thing my father's little lessons often involved was teamwork and learning how to work together.

So the day after Thanksgiving my sisters and I sat down and made our gift lists. This was an eye opener right off the bat. This was going to be a lot tougher than we had thought, some real imagination and ingenuity was going to be necessary to find something for each person on our lists within our very meager budget.

My oldest sister was the creative one and she came up with some really good ideas. My other sister was the book smart one and could figure out just about anything. And I provided the brawn and mechanical chores that I was good at so we all had something to contribute. We decided to pool our resources for our parents and grand parents since adults were tough even with a good budget.

My mom loved to take pictures but she wasn't really good at storing them or finding them afterwards. So we decided to make a family scrapbook and put all the pictures and other stuff in it and that would make a great gift for years to come. Since it involved more labor than money, it was a great solution.

My dad was a little tougher situation. He had several hobbies but most of the stuff he used was pretty expensive and nothing we could think of matched our budget. He was big into barbecuing so we decided on a collection of wood chips and a book on meat rubs would fit out budget and give him something he would use more than once.

And so the list went on, using some creativity and our own labor whenever we could. We even managed to have enough left over to increase our contributions to charity. And it did teach us a few things in the process. When Christmas day finally came, it was a lot of fun giving the background story on each present and I think we had more fun in giving the gifts than any we received.

Even though we self imposed our tight budget in this experience, it taught me how to still enjoy the holidays in lean times. It's the thought that counts and the cost has little to do with the value. And the act of giving to others is something anyone can enjoy.

My dad was a smart guy and always came up with good ways to teach us valuable lessons about many things. The true meaning of the holiday spirit is about the joy of giving to others, especially those in need. Even in tough times and if you're on a tight budget you can enjoy the holidays by sharing.
Decorating Your Christmas Tree

With the Christmas holiday season fast approaching it's time to start thinking about decorating your home for Christmas. While there are many areas of the home that can be decorated most of us focus our attention on the Christmas Tree. Here are some things to think about when decorating your Christmas Tree to ensure it makes a beautiful festive focal point in your home during the holiday season.

The most common Christmas decoration found on a Christmas tree is usually the lights. Christmas lights (or fairy lights) are small lights that tend to be multicolored or white. These days Christmas lights are fairly inexpensive and come in many shapes and sizes, from different colored bulbs to different shapes and lighting effects. A large number of Christmas tree owners use Christmas lights to decorate their Christmas trees. Depending on the type of Christmas lights you use, if you choose to use them at all, you may be able to set your lights to play a Christmas tune or flash in a certain pattern.

Aside from Christmas lights, Christmas ornaments are another one of the most commonly used Christmas decorations, for Christmas trees. Traditional Christmas ornaments are ball-shaped and are typically colored red, green, silver, or gold. However, you can buy ornaments today in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and styles. From Santa Claus and his reindeer to candy canes and even Disney Princesses, you're sure to find something to suit every taste and decor. Christmas ornaments are most commonly hung from Christmas tree branches using ornament hooks, yarn, or thread.

You can add texture and color to your tree with garland or tinsel. Garland, when used to decorate a Christmas tree, is often intertwined with Christmas lights. Christmas garland also comes in a number of different styles; popular garland styles include floral garland and beaded garland. It is also possible to find pre-lighted garland which has Christmas lights attached to it already. The main purpose of pre-lighted garland is to reduce the amount of time it takes to decorate a Christmas tree.

The finishing touch is often a Christmas Tree Topper. While Christmas tree toppers, like all other Christmas decorations, come in a wide variety of different sizes, shapes, and styles, they are most commonly sold as angels. Other popular toppers include stars, crosses, and Santas. In addition to coming in different sizes, you will find that many Christmas tree toppers are designed to light up with Christmas lights, and some may even play a musical Christmas tune.

You probably have a number of Christmas decorations and ornaments left over from last year but if you need to buy new items this Christmas you should be able to find the items mentioned in this article at a large number of retailers, both on and offline. For affordable Christmas decorations check your local dollar stores, discount stores, or department stores. For the largest selection of Christmas tree decorations, you might need to shop online or at a local specialty Christmas shop.

50 home remedies that work: these safe, fast, and effective fixes will relieve what ails you

50 home remedies that work: these safe, fast, and effective fixes will relieve what ails you

1 Bad Breath

No other natural remedy freshens bad breath as well as parsley, says David Orlarsh, N.D., a naturopath in Plymouth, N.H. This herbal food garnish is rich in chlorophyll, a green plant compound that kills the bacteria that cause bad odor. Nibble on a sprig after eating raw onions or garlic or whenever your breath smells sour.

2 Blemishes

To clear zits quickly, keep a small sealed jar of this natural topical remedy on hand (it keeps for a few months): Combine 2 tablespoons of green clay, 1 tablespoon of goldenseal powder (Hydratis canadensis), 2 to 3 drops of tea tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia), and enough water to form a paste. Apply the paste to your blemish at bedtime and leave it on all night. The clay dries up pore-clogging oil, and the goldenseal and tea tree oil kill the bacteria that cause infection.

3 Blisters

Don't pop your blister, no matter how tempting it is. Doing so increases the chance of infection. Instead, dab a cotton ball dipped in plain old drugstore witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) on the area at least four times a day, says Brad Bongiovanni, N.D., a naturopath in Atlanta, Ga. Witch hazel contains astringent tannins that dry up the fluid-filled skin and relieve pain by increasing circulation. It also contains alcohol, which is drying.

4 Body Odor

If your body odor persists despite good hygiene, your problem may be clogged pores. When your skin can't properly eliminate body wastes, bad body odor can result. Gently dry-brushing your skin just before every shower exfoliates the dead skin that traps those odor-causing wastes. You'll find body brushes in most drugstores. If you brush with long, gentle strokes moving toward your heart, you'll also improve circulation, which will help your body detoxify more efficiently. (This won't eliminate your need for deodorant, but you may be able to use less of it.)

5 Bruises

Experts say the popular muscle soreness remedy Arnica is also your best bet for minimizing bruises and healing them fast. As soon as you bump your knee or other body part or notice a swelling or discoloration, gently rub a dollop of this homeopathic cream on it. Arnica shrinks inflammation and increases circulation to flush away the stagnant blood that turns your skin black and blue.

6 Burns

You may know lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia) best for its soothing scent, but you can also use it to take the sting out of a first-degree burn (the kind you might get by touching a hot pan). Not only does this oil speed the healing process and prevent scarring, Bongiovanni says, but it also fights bacteria on vulnerable new skin. Gently clean the burn with soap and water first. Then combine one part pure lavender essential oil and three parts carrier oil, like almond or olive oil, and apply the mixture liberally to the burn at least three times a day, leaving the wound uncovered.

7 Canker Sores

You can once again eat spicy foods in comfort if you douse painful canker sores with raspberry leaf tea (Rubus idaeus). Steep 2 tablespoons of dried raspberry leaves in 1 cup boiling hot water until it cools. Strain the tea, and then swish a few mouthfuls for about one minute each three times a day. The tannins in this tea (which tastes a little like black tea) reduce the swelling and clean the sore so it can heal faster, explains Andrea Candee, a South Salem, N.Y.-based herbalist.

8 Chapped Lips

First, chuck your Chapstick. Conventional lip balms contain petroleum and sometimes alcohol, both of which dry the sensitive skin on your lips. Instead, moisturize and protect your parched, peeling lips with castor oil. Carry a small squeeze bottle of the oil and apply it with your finger often throughout the day. If you plan to be out in the sun, use a natural petroleum- and alcohol-free balm with an SPF of 15 a few minutes after rubbing in the castor oil.

9 Chest Congestion

The sweetness of your breath may suffer, but eating a plate of curried, sauteed onions on rice can really loosen congestion in your chest. Lightly saute two onions, sliced, and at least 1 teaspoon of curry powder in 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil until the onions are soft. Onions contain quercetin and sulfur, two plant compounds that break up mucus and increase circulation, explains Orlarsch. Curry also loosens phlegm.

10 Constipation

If you don't like prunes, you have another option for constipation relief. Dried figs work just as well as prunes. They contain soluble and insoluble fiber, both of which flush out your intestines. In fact, five figs supply at least 20 percent of your daily fiber requirement, more than almost any other fruit. Nibble on four or five at the first sign of constipation and drink at least one glass of water. If you don't get results within three hours, eat a couple more every three hours until you do.

11 Corns

Soften this thick, callused skin with a little castor oil, recommends Bongiovanni. Apply a drop of oil to the corn with your finger first thing in the morning, as soon as you get home from work, and right before bed. Cover the corn with a Band-Aid before putting on socks and shoes. You should see slow and steady improvement over several weeks.

Apply a drop of oil to the corn with your finger first thing in the morning, as soon as you get home from work, and right before bed. Cover the corn with a Band-Aid before putting on socks and shoes. You should see slow and steady improvement over several weeks.

15 Diarrhea

t may seem counterintuitive, but to clear up diarrhea you may need more bacteria--good bacteria, that is. Diarrhea can be a sign of an imbalance of good and bad bacteria in your intestines. Taking probiotic supplements corrects that imbalance, Bongiovanni says. Look for a brand that contains six to eight strains of live organisms, including Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacter. Bongiovanni recommends taking enough supplements to get 20 billion live organisms a day (this may be a large number of capsules). You should see improvement in one or two days; if you don't, see a doctor.

16 Dizziness

A common kitchen spice can stop a case of the spins. Simply drop a pinch of cayenne into a glass of warm water and sip. The warmth of the water and the heat of the cayenne cause your body to pump more blood and oxygen to your brain, which makes you feel clearheaded and steady. If you continue to experience bouts of dizziness, see your doctor.

17 Dry Eyes

You'll need to shed a few tears to remedy a case of dry eyes. And the easiest way to stimulate your tearing action is to apply moist heat to your eyelids. Dip a small towel or washcloth in warm water, wring it out, lie down, close your eyes, and put the cloth over your lids for 15 minutes. Do this two or three times a day or as needed.

18 Dry Skin

Almond and grapeseed oil are the quickest fixes for dry skin. They soak into your skin faster than creamy moisturizers. If your skin is extra dry and rough, opt for thicker oils like castor and avocado. If you're prone to breakouts, try filtered jojoba oil. Spread a thin coat of whichever oil you choose to the dry areas twice a day.

19 Earache

Ease the pain and pressure of an ear infection with a store-bought blend of mullein (Verbascum densiflorum) and garlic (Allium sativum) infused oils, advises Tukwila, Wash.-based naturopath Eric Yarnell, N.D. These oils kill pain and fight bacteria. Before bed, warm the drops. One way to do that is by placing the bottle in your armpit for 45 seconds. Tilt your head and squeeze 5 drops into the infected ear and then place a cotton ball in your ear for a few minutes to keep the drops from running out. You should experience immediate relief.

20 Eye Strain

To revitalize tired eyes, treat yourself to a soothing chamomile (Matricaria recutita) compress twice a day. The chamomile soaks through your eyelids, soothing eye tissue and reducing swelling in the capillaries, Candee explains. Make the compress by steeping 1 teaspoon dried chamomile flowers or 1 chamomile tea bag in 1 cup boiling hot water for 20 minutes. Strain. Allow the tea to cool, soak a washcloth in it, wring it out, lie down, and place it over your closed eyes for 15 to 20 minutes.

21 Fatigue

Sleep is what you need if you're overtired. But for a quick pick-me-up, drink a mug of mate (Ilex paraguariensis). This tea contains caffeine, but in lower doses than coffee. It also contains theobromine, an energizing compound. Steep a mate tea bag or 1 teaspoon dried mate in boiling hot water for 5 to 10 minutes, strain, and drink. This earthy-tasting tea is good black or with milk and sugar.

22 Fever

Maintaining your fever, rather than breaking it right away, can fight the virus that's making you sick. If you have a mild fever (up to 100 degrees), wrap yourself in a blanket and drink a cup of yarrow tea (Achillea millefolium). Make the tea by steeping 2 yarrow tea bags or 2 teaspoons dried yarrow in 1 cup boiling hot water for 15 minutes. Reheat it until it's piping hot, and sip it slowly. Your temperature may rise or fall a degree as you start to sweat. If your starting temperature is 101 to 103, drink the tea but skip the blanket. Check your temperature every 30 minutes throughout this process. Eventually your temperature will drop. If your starting temperature is 104 or more, or if the tea-drinking brings your temperature to 104 or more, call your doctor. Don't do this with babies or children, or if you're pregnant; consult your doctor instead.

23 Foot Odor

Chlorophyll, the same plant compound that gives plants their green color, can also sweeten your feet. Pour 2 to 3 teaspoons liquid chlorophyll into a bucket filled with a gallon of warm water, and soak your feet for 15 minutes. Dry your feet completely afterward, and wear cotton socks which let your feet breathe.

24 Gas

Chew on a small handful of anise, dill, or fennel seeds when you feel bloated. The compounds in these seeds relax the muscles in your digestive tract, which allows trapped gas to pass. You can buy the seeds in the spice aisle of grocery stores or the bulk section of natural food stores. Bonus: They freshen your breath, too.

25 Headache

Dull a tension headache by massaging a few drops of peppermint essential oil (Mentha piperita) into your temples. Peppermint works as well as 1,000 mg of acetaminophen, the main ingredient in aspirin, according to one German study. Herb experts don't know exactly how it works, says Yarnell, but the peppermint appears to prevent your body from sending pain signals to your central nervous system.

26 Heartburn

You'll need to find a carpeted area for this heartburn remedy called a heel drop. This sounds strange, but it works, says Yarnell. Roll up onto your toes as high as you can, and then allow your heels to quickly drop down onto the ground. Repeat this 20 to 30 times, holding onto the back of a chair for balance if you need to. The downward motion pulls the acid that causes heartburn back into your stomach.

27 Hemorrhoids

The tannins in witch hazel tighten the weak veins that trigger painful hemorrhoids. Apply witch hazel cream (be sure to buy the cream and not the clear liquid) three times daily, says Yarnell.

28 Hiccups

Think you've tried every hiccup remedy in the book? Candee swears by this one: Put a straw in a 6-ounce glass of water, press the tips of your index fingers into the indentations behind your earlobes where your neck and jawbone meet, and drink through the straw. Drink as much as you can while keeping pressure on those points. When the glass is empty, your hiccups should be gone.

29 Hives

The moment you feel yourself start to break out in hives, take 1,000 mg of vitamin C and 500 mg of pantothenic acid, advises Orlarsch. The combination of these supplements helps your body produce antihistamines, which fight hives, he explains. If the hives don't disappear after the first dose, take another dose every 10 minutes, up to three doses. The high vitamin C dose may cause diarrhea. Reduce your dose if this occurs.

30 Indigestion

If your tummy's in turmoil, drink a mug of chamomile tea (Matricaria recutita). The essential oils in this herb ease muscle spasms in your gastrointestinal tract and may also decrease your body's production of pepsin, a digestive enzyme that exacerbates indigestion. Brew your tea using loose chamomile flowers rather than the less-potent tea bags. Steep 1 to 2 teaspoons of the dried flowers in boiling hot water for 20 minutes, strain, and sip slowly.

31 Inflamed Gums

When your gums feel tender, mix a dropperful of myrrh liquid extract (Commiphora myrrha) in 1/4 cup of water, swish it around in your mouth, and spit it out, instructs Rosemary Gladstar, an herbalist in East Barre, Vt. Myrrh soothes sore, swollen gums. Do this twice a day.

32 Insect Bites

Relieve the itch from bug bites with an onion. The sulfur in onions neutralizes the chemicals that cause the itch, explains Candee. Simply slice a yellow onion in half and rub one of the cut sides on the bite. The itching should stop immediately. Refrigerate the onion in a sealed container to use again if the itching resumes. Make a fresh slice before reapplying it.

33 Insomnia

On nights when you can't get to sleep, a gentle herbal extract can do the trick. Take 2 teaspoons of valerian liquid extract (Valeriana officinalis) mixed in 1/4 cup warm water. As you wait for the herb to take effect, read a book. You can safely take two more doses of valerian throughout the night if you wake up again. Be aware that valerian makes some people jittery. If you have that reaction, try skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) or passion flower (Passiflora incarnata) instead.

34 Joint Pain

Capsaicin ointment, made from fiery cayenne peppers, can make your joints feel as good as new by interrupting pain signals. Rub the ointment into your joints every few hours. You may feel a mild burning sensation in your skin when you first apply it, but any discomfort will subside in a few minutes. Be sure to keep your hands away from your eyes until you've washed them thoroughly.

35 Menstrual Cramps

It should be no surprise that an herb named cramp bark (Viburnum opulus) would work wonders for menstrual pain. It contains at least six compounds that relax muscles, as well as salicin, the pain-relieving compound from which aspirin is derived. Take 1 teaspoon of the liquid extract every hour until your cramps subside. If they don't ease within 48 hours, stop taking cramp bark.

36 Muscle Strain

The tried and true Epsom salt bath works magic on sore or strained muscles. Epsom salts contain magnesium, a mineral which relaxes muscles when absorbed through your skin, explains Bongiovanni. The salts also soothe pain and kickstart your body's muscle repair process. Dump 2 cups of Epsom salts into a tub filled with warm water and soak for 20 minutes.

37 Nasal Congestion

Nothing works faster to clear clogged sinuses than horseradish, Gladstar says. The oils in this plant boost circulation in your nasal passages, which then loosens mucus. Mix a teaspoon of grated fresh horseradish with a little apple cider vinegar or honey, and eat it on toast (the vinegar and honey take the edge off the potent horseradish taste). Inhale deeply as you grate the horseradish; the fumes alone will start breaking up your congestion.

38 Nosebleeds

Halt a mild nosebleed in minutes with this simple, albeit strange trick. Tear a piece of brown paper from a grocery bag, place it inside your mouth between your top lip and your gum, and leave it there until your nose stops bleeding, says Candee. No one knows why it works, but Candee says her patients have used this trick successfully for 30 years.

39 Poison Ivy

Stop the itch of a poison ivy rash and prevent it from spreading with the following homemade paste: Mix 1 tablespoon of salt and 1/8 teaspoon of peppermint essential oil (Mentha piperita) with 1/2 cup green clay, and add enough water to form a paste. Apply the paste liberally to the rash and leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes. Store leftover paste in a tightly sealed jar and reapply as needed. The remedy soothes the itch by absorbing the irritating plant oils and drying the rash. It also works for poison oak.

40 Puffy Eyes

If your eyes are puffy in the morning, go straight for a cube of ice. Wrap it in a paper towel and hold it over each eyelid for a few minutes. The cold will reduce the swelling.

41 Razor Burn

A razor burn victim himself, Yarnell recommends slathering aloe gel (Aloe vera) on your skin when you're done shaving. You can buy aloe gel in drugstores, but look for a product that has few additives and is made with 100 percent aloe.

42 Sore Throat

Most people know that echinacea (Echinaceae spp) can help you fight off a cold. But it also acts as a mild local anesthetic when taken in liquid extract form, says Yarnell. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of the liquid extract with about 1/4 cup water, gargle, and swallow. Do this every hour for up to 48 hours or until the soreness disappears.

43 Sties

The warm compress that most doctors recommend to heal sties can be made more effective if you soak the compress in a solution containing the herb eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis). Steep 1 teaspoon dried eyebright in 1 cup boiling hot water for 10 minutes and strain. Soak a washcloth in the solution, gently wring it, and apply it to the stye for 15 minutes two or three times a day.

44 Sunburn

Your afternoon snack can also soothe your sunburn. Smearing yogurt on your skin as soon as it turns pink cools your skin and reestablishes its pH balance so it heals faster. Use plain, full-fat yogurt that contains few additives. Let it sit on your skin until it warms up and then rinse it off with tepid water. Apply as often as needed.

45 Toothache

Numb a throbbing tooth with clove essential oil (Syzygium aromaticum). The aromatic chemical in clove called eugenol anesthetizes pain and kills bacteria. To apply it, soak a cotton ball or swab with the oil and use it to wipe your sore gums and tooth. Repeat this four to five times a day until you can see your dentist.

46 Urinary Tract Infections

Drink cranberry or blueberry juice when you feel a urinary tract infection coming on. Both contain compounds that fight the infection by preventing troublesome bacteria from adhering to the walls of your urinary tract, explains Bongiovanni. Down one to two 8-ounce glasses of 100 percent cranberry or blueberry juice daily until the infection disappears. If you buy cranberry juice cocktail, drink four glasses a day. Or take 2.5 g of cranberry extract capsules (Vaccinium macrocarpum) twice a day with meals. If you still have symptoms after two days or if your symptoms worsen, see your doctor.

47 Vaginal Dryness

Vaginal dryness is triggered by a hormone imbalance. Vitamin E oil combined with the herb black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa) restores vaginal moisture and tips your hormones back into balance, explains Yarnell. Simply squeeze the oil from six vitamin E capsules into a small cup, add about 5 teaspoons of black cohosh cream, and stir. Apply the mixture to the inside and outside of your vagina two or three times a day until you find relief.

48 Varicose Veins

Putting your feet up and applying a compress made with sage tea (Salvia officinalis) can minimize the swelling of your varicose veins. Rich in anti-inflammatory compounds, sage reduces swelling by shrinking vein walls, Candee explains. Steep 6 teaspoons dried sage in 3 cups boiling hot water for 30 minutes (double the recipe if you're treating both legs) and strain. Dunk a medium-size hand towel in the tea and gently wring it out. Sit in a spot where you can put your feet up above your heart and wrap the towel snugly around your problem leg.

49 Warts

This wart remedy may sound wacky, but Yarnell swears by it. Gently rub the wart with your finger for 15 seconds at the same time each day. Rubbing the wart stimulates blood flow to the area and prompts your immune system to fight the wart virus. Doing this at the same time every day trains your immune system to kick in on its own.

50 Yeast Infections

Ease the maddening itch of a yeast infection with a suppository made with boric acid. Although its name sounds harsh, boric acid acts as a mild antiseptic and has antiviral and antifungal properties. Insert one suppository every night as long as needed. Do not exceed 14 days. If you don't find the suppositories in your natural food store, ask your pharmacist to make them.

Shopping Tip

You'll find all the ingredients for these remedies in natural food stores. We note when ingredients can also be bought in conventional groceries and drugstores.

How to Give Christmas Gifts in a Recession Economy

How to Give Christmas Gifts in a Recession Economy
By Kristina Jensen

Step
1
Follow the old saw, "It's the thought that counts." In times of economic instability, the gift you give doesn't have to be the height of luxury. It just has to be thoughtful and aimed at the person you're giving to.

Step
2
Consider each member of your family and all your friends. Rather than ask, "What does my cousin most want?" ask, "What makes my cousin happy?" Asking the question this way opens up a lot of new possibilities for Christmas gifts.

Step
3
Give the gift of food. Most people have a favorite food that is not too expensive. If the recession economy prohibits your spending lots of money on that luxury box of chocolates, then get together some less expensive chocolates and pop them in a gift bag.

Step
4
Go to Costco, Sam's Club or another warehouse club and purchase a Christmas gift sampler or several bulk-packaged treats that you can take apart and repackage for your family members, coworkers and guests. Warehouse clubs are great during a recession economy. Buying Christmas gifts in bulk is cheaper, and you can usually get quality products.

Step
5
Re-gift. It's not tacky anymore. It's green. What better way to help the environment and recycle than giving a gift you received once and can't use, to someone who can? That's the key--give the regifted gift to someone who will appreciate it. Or, if you're on humorous terms with someone, give it as a white elephant and start a family tradition.

Step
6
Give the gift of photos of family, pets, vacations, and memories. Photos are always personal and meaningful during an economic crisis. Make them into greeting cards. Put them in an album--you can find cheap albums or memory books at Wal-Mart or Target--or simply put them in a fancy envelope and write funny comments on the back of the photos. This will mean a lot to the recipients. And digital photos can be developed cheaply.

Step
7
Skip the expensive gift wrap. Use simple tissue paper, festive gift bags, or simply a ribbon or bow attached to the Christmas gifts. Check out the Resources section below for links to sources on creating your own gift wrap.

Step
8
Re-use the gift bags you've received in the past for your Christmas gifts. Keep track of who saw them before--you can store the information inside the bag--and avoid giving them to any of those people. There's often no reason a festive looking gift bag won't remain new looking for years.

Step
9
Make your own greeting cards and give them when you give your Christmas gifts. You can make your own greeting cards over the Internet, often more cheaply than buying new cards at Hallmark or other stationery stores. (Check out the links in the resources section below for help.) You can even include personal family photos that you upload from your digital camera or scanner in the greeting cards you create.

Step
10
Send online greeting cards to your long-distance friends and acquaintances as Christmas gifts. These are often free and convenient and are also appreciated.

Applying the New Tax Law to Your Taxes

Applying the New Tax Law to Your Taxes
By Thomas Wheelwright

With the end of the year just around the corner, the new law may provide you with additional tax saving opportunities.

In this report, I'll share the 2 most popular tax breaks in the new law and how they apply to your taxes.

Tax Break #1: First-time Home Buyer Credit Background information The first-time homebuyer credit is one of the most popular tax incentives in recent years. When originally enacted, the credit was limited to $7,500 ($3,750 for a married taxpayer filing separately) and it acted like a loan, requiring taxpayers to repay it over 15 years. Since its original enactment, the repayment requirement has been removed (in most cases) and the credit limit raised to $8,000 ($4,000 for a married taxpayer filing separately).

Extension of the credit The credit was set to expire November 30, 2009. The new law passed last week extends the credit to April 30, 2010.

Expansion of the credit The new law expands who is eligible for the credit in 2 different ways.

#1: No longer limited to first-time home buyers The credit was limited to first-time homebuyers. While the full $8,000 credit is still limited to first-time homebuyers. some long-time residents of the same principal residence may be eligible for a reduced credit of $6,500.

Generally, you must have owned and used the same residence as your principal residence for any five consecutive year period during the eight year period ending on the date of the purchase of a subsequent principal residence.

This is a great opportunity for homeowners looking to upsize, downsize or relocate. If you fall into this category, be sure to review the specific rules and deadlines with your CPA.

#2: Income limits raised The new law raises the income phase-outs for the credit. Previously, the credit phased out for single individuals with modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) between $75,000 and $95,000 and for married couples filing joint returns with MAGI between $150,000 and $175,000. Under the new law, phase out starts for single individuals with MAGI at $125,000 and for married couples filing joint returns with MAGI at $225,000.

Credit for 2010 can be claimed in 2009 If you are using the credit and make your purchase in 2010, then this next item will be of great interest to you. Eligible taxpayers can elect to treat the purchase as having occurred in 2009 for purposes of claiming the credit on your 2009 tax return. Without this special rule, you'd have to wait until 2011 to receive your credit when your 2010 tax return is filed.

Special rules Of course, there are many details involved when actually taking the credit, including special rules for repayment, new documentation requirements, a purchase price cap of $800,000, and more. I've covered the basics here. If you need additional information, please contact my office.

Tax Break #2: Net Operating Loss Carryback Background information A taxpayer can use a net operating loss (NOL) to obtain a refund for taxes paid in prior years. This is a great opportunity for businesses going through tough times to boost their cash flow with previously paid taxes.

Under normal circumstances, the carryback period is two years. Under the 2009 Recovery Act passed earlier this year, small businesses (average gross receipts of $15 million or less) could elect to carryback 2008 net operating losses (NOLs) for three, four or five years rather than the standard two years.

Extension of the NOL rules The expanded carryback period was originally only for 2008 NOLs. The new law extends the expanded carryback period to 2009 NOLs.

If a taxpayer elected under the 2009 Recovery Act to carryback 2008 NOLs, then that taxpayer may make the election for an additional year. Otherwise, taxpayers can take the new expanded election for NOLs incurred in either 2008 or 2009 but not for both years.

Expansion of the NOL rules The new law expands who is eligible for the expanded carryback period by making all businesses eligible and not just small businesses.

The election under the new law must be made by the due date (including extensions) for the tax return filed for the taxpayer's last taxable year beginning in 2009. Keep in mind that the election is irrevocable. Fiscal year taxpayers can make the election for tax years beginning or ending in 2008 or 2009.

Additional Resources As you may have gathered from this overview of the new tax law, there is a considerable degree of complexity involved both in taking full advantage of the tax benefits and in avoiding pitfalls.
